Stainless Steel Micro Wire (Inner Grid Mesh for Slope Protection)
In slope engineering, stainless steel Micro Wire refers to a grid mesh woven from 304/316 stainless steel fine wires. Its function is equivalent to hot-dip galvanized micro wire. It is used as the secondary inner mesh layer of protection systems to intercept small rocks and weathered debris, and it does not bear the main impact force of falling rocks.Ordinary micro wire is carbon steel with hot-dip galvanized coating; stainless steel micro wire itself is made of stainless steel and does not rely on coating protection for corrosion resistance.

✅ Advantages
1.Excellent resistance to salt spray and acid rain. Even with scratches or impacts, it will not quickly rust and break; it is the preferred choice for coastal slopes and areas around chemical plants.
2.Almost maintenance-free, reducing the need for frequent inspection and replacement of inner mesh systems.
3.Suitable for active protection net vegetation spraying and ecological restoration. Long-term contact with soil does not easily cause corrosion or wire breakage.
❌ Disadvantages
1.High cost. Using it for ordinary inland mountain slopes will significantly increase project expenses.
2.It is still only an inner secondary mesh and cannot replace Steel Wire rope main nets or ring nets. Large impacts are still mainly resisted by the outer main protection system.
When Should Stainless Steel Micro Wire Be Selected?
1.Coastal slope protection projects:Strong sea wind and salt spray environments where ordinary galvanized mesh may corrode and fail within several years.
2.Chemical industrial areas and regions with severe acid rain.
3.Tunnel entrances and slopes with extremely high humidity and long-term moisture exposure.
4.Projects requiring ultra-long service life where later maintenance and inspection are difficult.
For ordinary inland highways and mining slopes, Galfan micro wire is the preferred choice due to its better cost-performance ratio. Stainless steel micro wire should only be upgraded for severely corrosive environments.
Key Points for Procurement
316 must be selected for coastal environments. 304 cannot withstand long-term chloride corrosion.
The minimum wire diameter for slope applications should not be less than 2.0mm, with 2.2mm being the preferred specification.
The outer main protection layer still requires Galvanized Steel Wire Rope nets / ring nets. Stainless steel micro wire cannot be used alone as the main protection structure.
